Escape Slide Lighting

BaseWest’s escape slide lighting harness success began with the award of the A330 and 737NG upgrade programs in1995 based on our unique FAA-approved “round wire” incandescent configuration. These programs were soon followed by the award of the A320 upgrade in 1996 – and the first FAA-approved LED-based slide lighting system. These early designs paved the way for improvements including crush-resistant luminaires and significantly enhanced light output and reliability. Our products are flying worldwide, with virtually all Boeing, Airbus and large regional jet aircraft that use inflatable escape slides.

Our latest generation lighting design for dual lane escape slides includes  fluorescent arrows marking the two sliding lanes, an array of lights marking the separation between the lanes, and high-intensity lights the bottom of the slide to warn evacuees of obstacles after they exit the slide.  The design is FAA/EASA certified and in production.
